A filing room with daylight

Can a practical records room include a plant display?

4 individually potted plants. Select any photograph to open that plant's existing guide.

Placement and growing conditions

Why this group works here.

Keep pots on separate stable stands, well away from paper storage, sockets, and any area that must remain dry. Only use a part of the room with genuine daylight or a suitable lighting plan. A shelf deep inside a closed filing room is not made suitable by choosing a supposedly tolerant plant.

The message behind the grouping

Meaning, with a little thought.

The restrained forms suggest order and care for everyday surroundings. The arrangement should remain secondary to the safe use of the room.

Corn Plant
In this design: steady progress.
A cane and leaf rosette supply a vertical accent without requiring a broad branching crown.
Madagascar Dragon Tree
In this design: clear direction.
Slender stems and narrow leaves work as a vertical punctuation mark rather than a dense screen.
Parlor Palm
In this design: quiet welcome.
Use its fine divided fronds as a softer middle layer, with room to inspect every small stem.
Shield Aralia
In this design: a sense of shelter.
The rounded foliage adds a sheltered, enclosed feeling to a small display without implying a protective power.

Another place to begin.
